Quick Answer

Put the gun in your backpack's weapon slot, then open the backpack and spam-click the gun so you select it just as the backpack closes; it copies itself. That's the MW4 DMZ duplication glitch as of October 25, 2026, on mouse and keyboard and on controller. It isn't a sure thing: mistimed inputs do nothing, any patch can kill it, and you should keep at least one gun if you sell copies.

How Do You Do the MW4 DMZ Weapon Dupe?

Move the weapon into your backpack, then keep opening the backpack and clicking that weapon until it copies.

Bring a backpack that stores weapons

Take the gun you want to copy and a backpack with a weapon-storage slot. You can do it solo or with friends; in a squad, one person holds both the backpack and the gun.

Look for a weapon-storage slot in your backpack before starting.

Find cover and move the gun

Find an inconspicuous corner so another player does not knock you down while you work through the inventory. Move the weapon from your main slot into the backpack slot.

The weapon is now in the backpack slot rather than the main slot.

Repeat the backpack inputs

Open the backpack and click the stored weapon; the backpack closes. Reopen it and repeat, keeping the pointer over the weapon so your clicks select it. You're aiming to have the gun selected at the exact moment the backpack closes.

If nothing happens, it's your timing. Opening and closing the backpack on its own doesn't mean anything worked.

Check for a copy

Look for the weapon in your equipment and backpack at the same time. Keep the extra gun, drop it for a friend, or extract and sell it.

A second sequence uses a medium backpack: put the weapon inside, equip it, then immediately remove it from the backpack. Bring only the weapon you want to copy, and expect a few failed attempts. Keep this sequence separate from the repeated open-and-click method.

A protected weapon slot and blueprint belong to the separate blueprint combination method below. Those requirements should not be applied to every backpack weapon dupe. For weapon protection and tokens, see insured weapons and insurance tokens.

How Does MW4 DMZ Gun Duplication Work on Controller?

Store the weapon in the backpack first, then press X and the map button in very quick succession. X here is the interact button, so use whatever yours is mapped to.

You can also quickly equip the stored gun and immediately take it out. Console inputs are slower and harder to time than keyboard inputs.

A failed attempt can come from mistimed inputs. These player experiences do not guarantee that repeating the sequence will produce a copy in your session.

Does the MW4 DMZ Duplication Glitch Still Work?

As of October 25, 2026, it still works on both mouse and keyboard and controller. Infinity Ward closed "various exploits" on October 24 and patched the air base breach-charge door on October 25, so expect this one to go too, with no warning. If a few clean attempts give you nothing, it's probably been fixed. See the full list of exploits and loot glitches for what's patched.

Does the MW4 DMZ Weapon Duplication Glitch Need a Blueprint?

The basic backpack dupe doesn't. The blueprint combination needs a named blueprint weapon and a backpack with a secure or protected weapon slot. Named guns show the blueprint's name instead of the weapon's: Gunsmith blueprints, boss drops and the Dreadnought from the air base room all count. Pair it with the Ultra glitch: turn a roughly 12,000 blueprint into an Ultra worth 60,000 or more, then duplicate that.

Repeatedly press equip while the blueprint weapon is in the protected slot. It worked when the weapon shows in both the protected slot and the equipped slot; it usually takes a few tries.

That player then calls for a successful extraction with one gun in the backpack and the other in hand. Plan your exfil before treating either copy as something you have brought home.

When a gun appears in both your equipment and backpack, mw4 dmz weapon dupe, mw4 dmz duplication glitch, mw4 dmz duplicate, mw4 dmz gun duplication, and mw4 dmz weapon duplication glitch all refer to the same weapon-copying trick.

Why Is the MW4 DMZ Duplication Glitch Also Called Weapon Dupe or Gun Duplication?

Weapon dupe, gun duplication and duplication glitch all describe making weapon copies through backpack inputs.

  • Weapon dupe: You have a copy of the weapon as well as the original. “Dupe” is shorthand for duplication.
  • Duplication glitch: You use rapid inventory inputs to try to produce that extra weapon.
  • Duplicate: You are trying to make another copy of the gun you put in your backpack.
  • Gun duplication: You see the gun in your equipment while another remains in the backpack.
  • Weapon duplication glitch: You are describing the same backpack trick with its full name.

What Can Go Wrong When You Duplicate Weapons in MW4 DMZ?

Timing misses, getting shot while you're in your inventory, and running out of weapons to copy after selling them all.

  • Timing: Rapid inputs can miss, leaving you without the intended copy.
  • Position: Another player can knock you down while you concentrate on the backpack. Use a concealed spot first.
  • Controller speed: Console inputs are slower and harder to time.
  • Selling: Keep at least one gun. Selling every weapon can leave you without one to continue copying.

An Ultra from the blueprint combination sells for about 30k after you extract; other duplicated guns sell for their own value. For your next money run, see money farming.
