Quick Answer
Print Alloyed Plating and save it for Secure Backpacks or the 3-Plate Helmet Armor Vest. In MW4 DMZ, unlock Epic Ingredient Printing at the 3D Printer, then spend 100 Metals and 3 Structural Alloy per piece; to loot it instead, the printer points you to the Chang-san Air Base hangar, repair bay and Bubun Yard. Reserve 2 for a Medium Secure Backpack, or 4 for a Large Secure Backpack or 3-Plate Helmet Armor Vest.
Where Do You Get Alloyed Plating in MW4 DMZ?
Loot it at Chang-san Air Base or print it. The 3D Printer's own location hint reads "Found primarily in the Chang-san Air Base hangar, repair bay, and Bubun Yard." Players looking for it at the air base report coming up short, so printing is the dependable route once you have Epic Ingredient Printing.
| Item | Value |

| Print cost | 100 Metals + 3 Structural Alloy |

Printing lets you work toward an exact amount without depending on one loot container. The catch is Structural Alloy: it's a Rare Ingredient you can't print, found in the same air base hangar, repair bay and Bubun Yard, and the DMZ level track hands one out at level 43.
Start at the FOB 3D Printer. The basic printer opens at DMZ Level 2, but Alloyed Plating needs the separate ingredient-printing upgrade. If you have only just unlocked crafting, check that upgrade before gathering materials for a print you cannot start.
For a loot run, set up tracking before you deploy:
- Open the ingredient's card in the 3D Printer menu.
- Check Ingredient Locations for a recommendation of where to explore.
- Select Track to pin the ingredient.
- Look for the pin beside tracked ingredients while looting.
The location hint points you toward an area to explore. Treat it as search guidance rather than a promise that a particular container will hold Alloyed Plating. Tracking helps you recognize the ingredient when you find it; it does not replace the need to bring it home.
Ingredients are extracted intact for crafting. After a successful return, move your Alloyed Plating into the Stash so it is available for your next print. If getting the material home is your next problem, check how to exfil before committing to another search.
How Do You Craft Alloyed Plating?
Each Alloyed Plating costs 100 Metals and 3 Structural Alloy, and requires Epic Ingredient Printing. That is the cost of the ingredient itself, before you spend it on equipment.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Required upgrade | Epic Ingredient Printing |
| Metals per piece | 100 |
| Structural Alloy per piece | 3 |
- Unlock Epic Ingredient Printing.
- Collect the Metals and Structural Alloy needed for your intended quantity.
- Select Alloyed Plating in the 3D Printer and check your stored ingredients.
- Print the pieces you need and send them to your Stash.
The printer shows how many ingredients you already own. A required amount turns green when you have enough for the highlighted craft. Use that display to check what is missing before spending materials.
You can select multiple copies when you have enough resources and ingredients. For a larger equipment goal, check the finished item's recipe first. Producing enough plating only covers one part of that recipe; it does not supply its other ingredients or unlock the equipment.
Unlocking the basic 3D Printer at DMZ Level 2 does not unlock Alloyed Plating printing. Check Epic Ingredient Printing before treating Metals and Structural Alloy as immediately usable plating.
What Should You Save Alloyed Plating For?
Save 2 Alloyed Plating for a Medium Secure Backpack, or 4 for either a Large Secure Backpack or a 3-Plate Helmet Armor Vest. Pick the equipment you are working toward and reserve its amount before selling spare ingredients.
| Item | Alloyed Plating per craft |
|---|---|
| Medium Secure Backpack | 2 |
| Large Secure Backpack | 4 |
| 3-Plate Helmet Armor Vest | 4 |
These are separate crafting targets. Two pieces cover the Medium Secure Backpack's plating requirement, but leave you short for either of the four-piece recipes. If you spend that pair on the medium backpack, you still need another four pieces for a later helmet vest.
When planning to print your entire reserve, the plating alone takes:
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Metals for 2 pieces | 200 |
| Structural Alloy for 2 pieces | 6 |
| Metals for 4 pieces | 400 |
| Structural Alloy for 4 pieces | 12 |
Those totals cover only Alloyed Plating production. Keep the finished equipment's other ingredients separate in your plan. Looting a piece of plating saves the 100 Metals and 3 Structural Alloy you would otherwise spend printing that piece, so count what is already in your Stash before making more.
Choose the backpack recipe if carrying capacity and protected storage are your next goal. Choose the helmet vest recipe if you are working toward that armor instead. Check the recipe and its unlock before committing the reserve, since having enough plating does not make the whole craft ready.
Next, open Loot & Items to plan the other ingredients you need alongside your Alloyed Plating reserve.
FAQ
Craft it with Epic Ingredient Printing, or use the 3D Printer's Ingredient Locations hint to guide your looting. Track the ingredient so its pin appears when you encounter it during a deployment.
One piece requires 100 Metals plus 3 Structural Alloy. Printing two therefore takes 200 Metals and 6 Structural Alloy.
Keep two pieces for the Medium Secure Backpack, or four for the Large Secure Backpack or 3-Plate Helmet Armor Vest. These amounts cover the plating requirement for one craft.
The 3D Printer's hint says the Chang-san Air Base hangar, repair bay and Bubun Yard. Track it from its printer card so the pin shows when you find one.
The Level 2 unlock gives you the basic printer; Alloyed Plating also requires Epic Ingredient Printing. Check that upgrade before collecting the materials for your print.
