Quick Answer

Find Weapon Manuals in safes and nearby loot cases, then extract to unlock repeat Gunsmith purchases. You need the manual for the weapon you want; it is consumed at exfil and pays out 5,000 DMZ Cash. For your MW4 DMZ Weapon Manuals run, check the blue building in the compound and the DB BNT TV building, including the cases near its fourth-floor safe.

Where do you find Weapon Manuals?

Search safes, the loot cases near the TV building safe, and keyed weapon lockers or black market stashes near police stations. Players have found manuals in these containers, but the loot is random, so treat them as places to search rather than guaranteed drops.

Blue building in the compound

Start at the blue building in the compound, where the entrance has a weapon crate and the building has a safe.

Locate the blue building

Find the blue building indicated on the map and head to its entrance.

Look for the blue building marked on the map.

Check the entrance crate and the safe

Inside the doors, check the weapon crate, then search the building's safe. Players following this route have repeatedly found the safe here; that does not make its contents a guaranteed manual.

The weapon crate sits inside the blue building entrance.

DB BNT TV building

Go through the TV building's side door, take the stairs at the back, and climb to the fourth floor.

Reach the fourth-floor safe

Cross the area with server equipment and go through the door at the back to reach the safe. The second and third floors are also worth looting on your way back down.

Search the nearby cases before leaving

Check the cases around the safe area too. Players have found Weapon Manuals in them, so stopping at the safe alone means passing up another chance.

Look for the loot cases near the TV building safe.

For more safe stops, follow the MW4 DMZ safe locations route. If you already have a suitable key, players have also found manuals in keyed weapon lockers and black market stashes in sheds near police stations. Plan that detour with the MW4 DMZ police station page.

What do Weapon Manuals unlock?

Extracting with a weapon's matching manual unlocks repeat purchases of that weapon at the Gunsmith. You can then buy it as often as you want.

The October 9, 2026 Gunsmith rule requires you to find the manual and successfully extract with it. There is also a War Spoils camo challenge: extract three Weapon Manuals for the same weapon, then check that weapon's Camos → DMZ → War Spoils entry.

War Spoils appears in the weapon's DMZ camo menu.

A competing player interpretation describes manuals as unlocking camo rather than weapons, with weapons unlocked by leveling. That account was recorded on October 23, 2026; its original publication date was not supplied. The October 9, 2026 Gunsmith rule explicitly gives the matching manual an extraction requirement for repeat weapon purchases. For your next run, match the manual to the weapon you want to buy, and check War Spoils separately for its camo requirement.

Do you need to extract with Weapon Manuals?

Yes, successful exfil is required for the Gunsmith purchase unlock. Picking up a manual is only part of the job.

At exfil, the manual is consumed and pays out 5,000 DMZ Cash. Once you have the manual you came for, prioritize getting out over another loot detour.

An upgraded Backpack's Secure Slot protects items placed inside it. Items outside Secure Slots are lost if you fail to exfil. Protecting an item and completing the extraction requirement are separate things, so do not count a failed extraction as your Gunsmith unlock.

For your next loot target, return to MW4 DMZ loot; for another manual run, start with the safe route above and search the nearby cases before moving on.
