Quick Answer
Find green smoke, call Twin Heli Exfil, hold the site, then get on the helicopter. Calling it isn't the end: you still have to survive until it lands. In MW4 DMZ, active exfil sites rotate through a pool of spots across Hajin. Fulton balloons and Flares are the other ways out, and the Vault Edition Deployment Kit comes with two Fulton Drop Markers.
How do you exfil in MW4 DMZ?
Find an active site under green smoke, call Twin Heli Exfil, defend the site, and board when the helicopter shows up.
Find green smoke
Active exfil sites come from a pool of spots across Hajin. Look for green smoke over an open site while you plan your route on the Hajin map.
Call Twin Heli Exfil
Call the helicopter at the site. Get ready to defend: enemies push harder while you wait.
Hold the site and board
Stay alive until the helicopter lands, then get on to finish your deployment. Calling it is only step one.
Other squads can ambush exfil sites. Exfil flares are, in one player's words, "extremely loud and can be seen from quite a distance," so expect company when you leave.
Running the Die Hard operator trait? Walk up to an exfil while in Last Stand and it calls the exfil for you, plus you get infinite bleed out time in Last Stand. That only calls your ride. You still have to get out.
How do MW4 DMZ Fulton extraction and the Fulton Drop Marker work?
A Fulton balloon is another way out, and the Vault Edition Deployment Kit gives you two Fulton Drop Markers.
The Vault Edition kit at the FOB includes the Fulton Drop Marker.
Shown at 129:28 in MrDalekJD’s video. The Flare is another way out. It's loud and you can see it from far away, so be ready for a fight when you pop one.
Don't mix up the names. The Fulton Drop Marker is the kit item. The Fulton balloon and the Flare are the alternative exfil methods. The parachute is gear, and you get or craft it separately, as shown below.
Where do you get a MW4 DMZ parachute?
Search Fire Stations on Hajin for parachutes, or craft one in the 3D Printer's Gear category at the FOB.
Search a Fire Station
Fire Stations are usually in built-up areas, so expect enemies. Look for parachutes and Radiation Gear, but don't count on a parachute every time.
Check the Parachute entry in Gear
The 3D Printer can craft parachutes. One player opened the FOB Gear menu and found the Parachute recipe locked, with the prompt "Find this recipe in game to unlock it."
The locked Parachute entry tells you to find its recipe in game to unlock it.
Shown at 137:42 in Expel’s video.See that prompt? Then finding the recipe is the next thing you need before you can craft it.
What happens to your loot if MW4 DMZ extraction fails?
Fail to exfil and you lose everything outside your Secure Slots. The DMZ XP you earned that run still counts.
| Item | Result |
|---|---|
| Items outside Secure Slots | Lost on failed exfil |
| Deployment DMZ Cash | Banked after successful exfil |
| Deployment DMZ XP | Retained after failed exfil |
If your upgraded Backpack has Secure Slots, put the loot and items you can't afford to lose there. You need a clean exfil to bring back unsecured items and move your run's cash into the Bank. XP works differently, see DMZ leveling and rewards.
Made it out? Head to the FOB and get your gear ready for the next run.

Yes, the Fulton balloon is another way out. The Flare is one too, on top of the regular Twin Heli Exfil.
Search Fire Stations, or craft one in the FOB 3D Printer under Gear. If the recipe is locked with a find-in-game prompt, you need to get that recipe first.
No, your DMZ XP from that run still counts after a failed exfil. You lose items outside Secure Slots, and your run's DMZ Cash only goes into the Bank after a successful exfil.
